SIGHTINGS 2007
Aine rang on 5th November to say that on 1st November
2007 she was awoken at 3 a.m. by a very loud noise over her house – she lives in
the Cabinteely area of Dublin. Looking out of the window she saw a big red ball
which was going round and round in a circle. It was at about 9,000 ft. high
and at first she though that it was an aircraft which was on fire and was
jettisoning fuel. This went on for about 15 minutes. Then suddenly the ball of
fire seemed to be extinguished, the noise stopped and what appeared to be a
craft, triangular in shape, with windows that were lit up, just shot over her
house at tremendous speed, travelling in a westerly direction. Aine first
phoned Dublin Air Traffic Control, who told her that they had no reports of any
aircraft in distress; she then phoned Astronomy Ireland who put her on to us –
has anyone any ideas as to what this could have been – other than an
‘Unidentified Flying Object’?
Andre, aged 9, reported that one night at
the beginning of October 2007 around 9 pm whilst travelling in a car in the
Knockarush area along the N61, heading towards Roscommon town he saw a ‘craft’ –
it had four white lights in a row with two more below it on either side and
there was a big red light on the top. It was about a mile away in the direction
of the Boyle Golf course. There was no noise. It is interesting to note that
this is in the area of the Mound of Knockadoobrusna where on 2nd December 2000 a
very big craft with beams of light emanating from it was sighted. I believe it
is a UFO ‘hangar’, for want of a better description. There have been quite a few
sightings along this particular stretch of road.
Niall who lives in
Knocknagoshel West, Tralee, Co.Kerry, reported that on the morning of 8th
September ‘07 at 05.55 he noticed two very bright lights in the west, moving in
a south-westerly direction. They were very high up and when seen through
binoculars, appeared as circular lights. They did not display flashing strobe
lights, nor were they emitting any lights. They appeared to be moving slower
than aircraft, and one was following the other. Niall remarked that as they
passed overhead the atmosphere all around became distorted for some reason and
it was no longer possible to see anything clearly. By 0600 the sun had risen a
little more and the two objects were no longer visible at
all.
Eoin reported that on the night of 10th January 2007 he observed a very bright
light moving from west to east. It started off very high in the sky and then
travelled down, and as soon as it disappeared another one would show up in the
sky. He saw 15 of them altogether, between the hours of 7 pm and 9.30 pm. He
said they were 3 to 4 times the size of Venus. This was in the Leixlip area of
Co. Dublin. These lights were also seen by his mother and brother, who first
observed them when they got off the train at Leixlip station. Eoin said that
there was no noise and he was quite certain that they were not
aircraft.
Clodagh from Navan rang to say that her sister reported seeing
some very strange lights at about 10.30 pm.on the night of 12th July ’07. She
described them as being ‘the length of a bungalow’. She said that they would
shoot across the sky, then stop and zoom back to where they came from. They
were high up in the sky and were pulsating. These lights were seen in the
outskirts of the Navan town area and they seemed to be travelling in the
direction of the Hill of Tara.
Claire from the Dublin area reported that
on Saturday 21st July 2007 she and her husband saw a very large circular object
hovering quite low. It was extremely large, much bigger than any plane and it
was spinning very fast with what appeared to be square lights, like windows,
evenly spaced within its shape.. She said that when you looked directly at the
movement it was blurred, but if you focused beside it, it was very clear and it
kept spinning, moving a little just from right to left. The movement didn’t
change, it just seemed to recede and become less clear and eventually they
couldn’t see it any more. The sighting lasted for about 20 minutes to half an
hour.
Kenneth rang to report that on Friday 1st June 2007 he was out
flying in a small private aircraft. He had taken off from a small private
airfield in Kilrush, Co.Laois and was flying at 2000 feet when he saw a fairly
big bright object, roundish in shape, not too far away, flying at approximately
3000 feet. It was proceeding in a straight line and the light from the object
was at first blue, then it turned red and then yellow, and it would start to
fade and then it would get brighter again. He tried to catch up with it, when
before his very eyes it just vanished. It was a very clear evening, with not a
cloud in the sky. Both he and the object were flying between the towns of
Durrow and Roscrea, heading towards Birr (all these are in Co.Laoise. Being a
pilot himself, he was very well qualified to know that what he had seen was
neither a helicopter nor was it a plane, and the fact that it just suddenly
vanished unnerved him somewhat. He said he have never witnessed anything like
that before.
John K. reported that one morning at the end of May 2007
abut 10.40 am whilst driving into Limerick city he saw a metallic looking object
in the sky. It looked triangular, pointed at the front with a bright white
light at the back of it. It was high in the sky and was moving at a speed
similar to an aircraft, but he did not think it was an aircraft.
John
M. reported that while out walking at 11 pm on 7th June 2007 in a dark area of
Hurlers Cross, Shannon, Co.Clare, his neighbour saw a very bright light in the
sky, twice as bright as Venus. He saw it moving across the sky above him and
was amazed to see that the light was moving slowly and from side to side and
then in a circle. After a moment the one light then separated and became two, he
saw the two lights side by side and then suddenly they disappeared out of
sight.
Brendan who lived in the Dundalk area of Co.Louth, reported that
on 22nd May 2007 around midnight he was looking out over Dundalk Bay towards
Dublin when he saw some very big round white, reddish and blue flashing lights.
There seemed to be three big ‘craft’ with dozens of smaller ones flashing on and
off and zigzagging at tremendous speed, some going east to west and some west to
east. They then seemed to disappear slowly over the mountains, going in the
direction of Carling.
