SIGHTINGS
2004

31st AUGUST 2004 - Tony reported that he was sitting out in his garden at 12.35
in the afternoon enjoying the sunshine in the Ballsbridge area of Dublin.
Looking up into a deep blue clear sky he observed a silver object moving
extremely fast – it traversed half the sky in 10/15 secs. Tony is more familiar
than most people with aircraft, having worked in the aircraft industry for many
years and he knows that no known aircraft, military or otherwise, is capable to
travelling at such a speed. It seemed to be cylindrical in shape (i.e. no wings)
and could have had a reflective surface which is why it would have been silver.
It was very high up – between 45/50,000 ft – and it came from the northeast and
was heading towards the southwest.
24th AUGUST 2004 - Miles reported
that on a large diamond-shaped UFO craft with red searchlights beaming down from
it was seen in Fardross Forest in the area of Fivemiletown in Co.Tyrone, N.
Ireland. It was seen in the hills behind his radio station, called "Alien
Mountain"and he says 'it may have been a reptilian device’. As there is a
caravan park in the area it is possible that other people may have seen it
too.
23rd AUGUST 2004 - Miles rang to report that one Milton C. had
informed him that, in the early hours at 2.45 am, he was out for a walk when he
saw a large spaceship of some kind. It came in slow, hovered and was spinning
around for about 10 minutes. It then took off like a jet. This was in the
Nenagh, Co. Tipperary area. For further information go to

1st AUGUST 2004 - Vincent rang to report
that on Sunday morning, he was driving along the road about 3 miles from Knock
Airport in County Mayo, when he observed a very big bright light, bigger than a
football, which went behind some clouds and about a minute later came out the
other side of them. He observed it for about 10 minutes. It was travelling very
fast and as it got further away it ended up looking like a small star. The
weather conditions at the time were cloudy, but clear.
1st JUNE 2004 -
Roseanne came in to the Conference especially to give us this report…"On 1st
June 2004 at approximately 2 am I was driving just outside Loughrea town which
is about 45 miles from Galway. The night was dry and I was driving about 50 mph
with no traffic apart from the odd car, when I began to focus on a saucer shaped
object in the sky above. It was not very high up as I did not have to stretch my
neck backwards to view it. The object was full of lights and it moved slowly in
the sky, staying there for approximately one mile further down the road. It then
began to move towards the right of my view and just before the village of
Craighhuck (this may not be the right spelling – I could not make out the
writing), the object seemed to disappear but when I looked to my right it was
descended lower over the fields, spinning around all the while. I was still
driving and realising I was approaching a stretch of road that had trees in a
cluster, I focussed more on my driving just in case any traffic would approach
from the village I was now approaching. I had no fear at all. I did not see it
after that. Then on the 12th June I met someone who had been at the same
function as me on the 1st June. He approached me and asked if I had seen any
strange big light up in the sky, out the Loughrea road. I said I did. He was
travelling the same stretch of road and confirmed he had seen it too and watched
it for a long time."
24th MAY 2004 - Brian and his wife, together with the
brother–in-law and his wife, were strolling along the promenade at Galway Bay
when he decided to take a photo of them. He did so, but when he viewed it on his
digital camera screen he found that he had cut out their feet, so he took a few
steps back and took another one. When he printed this out on the computer he
added the caption … "Galway… next stop New York" and it was only then that he
noticed an object in the sky in the photo. When he zoomed it in, he saw that it
was definitely not a plane or a helicopter. To him it looked as though it could
be a UFO so he looked up the Yellow Pages and got my telephone number and
decided to contact me. When he looked again at the first photo he had taken
(minus the feet) there was nothing in the sky, so the object had appeared
literally within seconds. There was no sound at the time, as otherwise he would
definitely have looked up and seen it.
9th MAY 2004 - Gerard from
Cork wrote this letter to Astronomy Ireland …"Firstly, I am not a crackpot who
invents stories. I am a Security Officer Sergeant of 52 years of age and have
no interest in mumbo jumbo. As a hobby I track commercial air traffic between
USA and Europe. While on duty on Sunday May 9, I tracked an aircraft that came
from the Southeast and headed Northwest at an altitude of approx. 36,000 ft at
1215 hours. The Sun was located just slightly to the West. As I observed the
aircraft and slipstream with my 12x36 binoculars, my attention was drawn to an
object that seemed to be stationary above the jet. The object stayed at this
altitude for close on 3 hours. I couldn’t watch it all the time as I had
patrols to do but I did not see it again after 1530 hours and have not seen it
since. I can only describe it as like a round coin turned on its side with that
side facing West. I suspect that if the sun wasn’t in the West position, I
wouldn’t have been able to see it at all. The surface of whatever it was, was
"creamy pink" in colour. I would like to know what am I looking at. Can you
assist please?"
8th MAY 2004 –John rang to say that on 8th May 2004
between 8 pm and 9pm, he and four friends were on the Galway Bay coast road near
Salthill, when coming from the west they saw three balls of glowing lights, one
following the other at different heights. They shot into the mouth of Galway Bay
and flew forwards and back, very fast from west to east and slower from east to
west. They were flying too low and too fast to be aircraft – they were about
100 ft. above the water and travelled the 7 miles from the west coast to the
furthest point in Clare in 5 secs. There was a clear sky at the time and about
10 people in all were watching this spectacle.
6th MAY 2004 – Robbie
reported that on 6th May 2004 he was at the shore of Lough Key in Lough Key
Forest Park, Boyle, Co. Roscommon, when he and some friends saw two lights in
the sky moving parallel to each other at high speed. This went on for about a
minute, then one of them disappeared. Suddenly out of nowhere it appeared again
and came speeding towards the other light which was still visible and seemed to
very nearly crash into it. Then both lights disappeared. It was a cold and
dark, but clear night.
27th APRIL 2004 - Miles reported that on at 8.30
pm he saw a triangular shaped object travelling from SW to NE in the Belfast
area. As friend of his, who does remote viewing, said that her information was
that there were no ETs on board and that it was a remote controlled vehicle.
Interesting!!
13th APRIL 2004 – Shane reported that on 13th April 2004
at 4.10 am he saw three stars in a triangular configuration travelling across
the sky in an arc. He said it could have been either one large craft with a
light at each corner of the triangle or there were three craft travelling in
perfect formation. If it was one craft it was made of some sort of transparent
material as he could see the stars through it. The sighting lasted about 5
minutes and his Mother saw it as well. He said that he has seen this anomaly
before. Shane lives in Clonmel, Co. Tipperary.
19th MARCH 2004 – Betty
reported that at 8.20 pm on 19th February 2004 on her way back from Galway she
was driving along the road between Castlerea and Frenchpark in Co. Roscommon
with two friends, when one of them said "Look. There’s a UFO!" She stopped the
car and all got out and watched this "star" behaving in a most peculiar fashion
– at first it was going in a straight line and they thought it was probably an
aircraft or satellite, when suddenly it stopped, went backwards, then did a big
circle and then went on again. It continued to proceed in this erratic fashion
and they watched it for a good 7 to 8 minutes before it went out of sight. It
was travelling in a northerly direction, but as it was quite far away it was
difficult to tell just how fast it was travelling. It was a clear night. They
got back in to the car and continued on their journey when one of the passengers
said, "There it is again." The same things happened – the star/spaceship/UFO
(?) travelled again in the same extraordinary fashion before it went out of
sight. It is difficult to know whether there were in fact two craft or whether
it was the same one that had appeared a second time. Either way, they were all
certain that it was no conventional craft of any description, nor was it a
satellite.
14th FEBRUARY 2004 – Brendan reported that on 14th February
2004 at about 3 pm he saw a 'black letterbox shaped object’ hovering about him
and moving very slowly as if floating. He found it difficult to estimate the
size or height but felt it to be at least 500 feet high and to be a large object
by the lazy way it moved. He described it as a 'perfect rectangle with nothing
extending or sticking out – no lights either’. He went indoors to get his
camera but by the time he had loaded a film and gone outside again the UFO had
'drifted’ higher and got smaller. It did not fit the description of a balloon,
kite, aircraft or anything else. It was a sunny day with light clouds. This was
in the Skerries area of Co. Dublin. It was not like anything he had ever seen
before.
18th JANUARY 2004 – Brian reported that at around 6.45 pm on
18th January he saw what looked like two moving stars – at first he saw only one
and it was moving northwards fairly fast, then he saw a second one moving
parallel. They flew in very close to each other and moved out again – planes
would not fly that close . After about 30 seconds they were too far out of sight
to see. He reported the sighting to Cork Airport which was only 10-15 miles
away, they said they could only record that the sighting had been reported but
said they could not check the radars – how many times have we heard that one
before?? Brain went on to say that he is not a UFO follower but that he and this
companions were positive that these were not planes.
13th JANUARY 2004 –
Paul reported that at 8.30pm he saw what he described as an "oval shaped orange
light" which was travelling very fast towards somw grey clouds. It then
disappeared into the clouds and did not emerge the other side, which he thought
was very strange. This was in the Santry area of Co. Dublin. |

SIGHTINGS
2000 - 2003
SEPTEMBER 2003: ...Robert reported that on 7th September 2003, at 10.40 pm he saw a very bright
light low in the sky, travelling in a south to north direction. He described it
as a "basin upside down". it curved towards the east before disappearing behind
a tree, when he lost sight of it. He saw it for only a few seconds. It was
travelling not very fast and it was not very high, about 150 feet he reckons.
What made this sighting most amazing was the fact that while he was watching, it
split into two, then into three, and the third light was bright red. This was in
the Kiltimagh area between Kiltimagh and the village of Bohola in Co.
Mayo.
...Colm rang to report that at 11pm on 5th
September 2003 he observed three bright lights in a triangular shape, with one
light leading, one off to the left and the third on the right which seemed to be
behind the others. They were travelling in unison in a west to east direction.
Looking through his 6x30 finder scope he said they were perfectly round orange
discs. He described them as all the world like Haliborange tablets! It would
appear that at their leading edges the three lights were not of a solid
construct, as he could see the stars inside of the 'triangle'. There was no
noise. It was a clear night and the moon was low.
AUGUST 2003: ...Howard, who lives in England, reported that on Wednesday 27th August 2003, he
and his wife were camping in the south east corner of the Ring of Kerry, when at
11.30pm they observed a large lozenge shape light which appeared in the south
and travelled in a northerly direction. It was travelling very fast, and as it
came out of a cloud near the ground became bathed in a dazzling white light. One
minute later they heard what sounded like a distant explosion directly over
them. The light (craft?) disappeared into a cloud and all was completely
silent. Howard was intrigued and made some enquiries locally to see if anyone
else had seen this light, but drew a blank. I told him there were too many
people looking up at Mars in the Ring of Kerry that particular night, so he was
extremely lucky to have seen it. Remember the mysterious craft which was
supposed to have crashed in the Lispole area of Co. Kerry on 25th August and no
debris of any description was found? ...could this have been a UFO I
wonder!!
JULY 2003: Stargazer reported that in the Rostrevor, Co. Down area
a sighting occurred in late evening. Over the rooftops of the street he was
walking down, he noticed what appeared to be a large silvery disk begin to move
behind a mass of cloud. His view was obstructed by buildings to his left and by
the time he got to a clear space fifteen seconds later, the object had
disappeared. This object was flying quite low but made no sound. There were no
discernible lights in the sky.
APRIL 2003: Edward, who was at
the Galway Conference, reported that about 5am one morning, just as it was
getting bright he observed a very big light which travelled slowly and made no
noise. It was a clear sky and he could not see any stars as it was so
bright. Three weeks later he again saw a big light, like a disc, tilting up
'as if to show itself'. He saw it for 2 seconds, then it disappeared for a
minute, then reappeared for a few seconds when it seemed to have got bigger,
before it finally disappeared. This was in the Galway area.
FEBRUARY
2003: 'Stargazer' reported a sighting in Warrenpoint, Co. Down, Northern
Ireland. He says that the sighting took place one evening as he was returning
home from work. It was around 6 pm and already quite dark. He had just turned
into the street where he lived when he noticed two points of light in the sky,
northeast of his position. The lights were white, like stars, but much brighter
than stars one would normally expect to see. One 'light' was roughly 45 degrees
below the other. He stopped as soon as he saw them and as he did, they curved
off in a westerly direction, disappearing into the sodium lights of a nearby
estate. As they arced, they travelled at an incredible speed, made no sound and
remained parallel to one another.
2001: Joe reported that sometime in 2001 when he was in the
Blanchestown area of Dublin, at about 8.30 pm on a very clear evening at the end
of summer, he saw a very bright light which he reckoned was about 3 to 4 miles
away. It was about a third-moon shape, then it appeared to turn on its side,
tilt forward and – then vanished! It came in at an angle of 45 degrees, very
fast, and he saw it for about two and a half seconds. It made no sound. It was
definitely no aircraft.
15th JANUARY 2000: Anthony, who was at
the Galway Conference, reported that on at 3am he was on shift-work in the water
filtration plant in Castleconnell, Co. Limerick when he noticed three starlike
white points of light in triangular formation travelling from southwest to east.
It was a calm clear night so he had a clear view of the object. It was very high
up and he watched it for about one and a half minutes when it crossed overhead
and faded out of sight. He said that even at that height the object was
huge.
SIGHTINGS
1996 - 1997 JANUARY 1997: Yvonne e-mailed to say that in Meath she saw what she
considered to be a UFO. It was low in the clear sky and shaped like a diamond –
much bigger and brighter than any star (of which where were none in the sky with
it, at least not that low). She watched it for a while when it suddenly
disappeared and reappeared to the left of a tree across the sky. It then did the
same and reappeared to the right of where it had been in the beginning when she
first noticed it. She said she must have observed it for about ten minutes,
maybe longer. Her friend claimed to have spotted something similar that night
also and reported it to her brother who then emailed an English website who said
that there had been several sightings that night over the British Isles - of
something.
1996: Bob reported that sometime about 1996 he was
driving back home from doing a gig in Limerick City (he had a band on the road
at that time). It was a frosty February night. They were driving beside the
Ardsnacrusha canal and as they came over the brow of the hill just past the
village of Clonlara they saw a bright light in the sky. It was at a height of
about 100 metres above the canal. As they headed down the road past Clonlara
Cross, it seemed to move, but they assumed it was probably the contour of the
road creating that illusion. They then headed past Clonlara Cross and went into
a dip in the road. As they turned a corner into a forested area they saw, to
their utter amazement, a gigantic craft hovering silently, not 60 feet above the
road. Bob said it was about 90 foot long and seemed to be sort of "lozenge
shaped". It had rotating lights underneath and they got the uneasy feeling they
were being observed. The 'craft' then slowly drifted on over the trees and out
of sight.
